Spatial audits
A spatial audit is a method of evaluating a specific area from the perspective of its users.

It allows us to analyse how accessible and comfortable a space is — both in practical and social terms. During the audit we assess elements such as the quality of sidewalks, availability of seating, protection from weather conditions, accessibility of services, noise levels, and the overall atmosphere of a place.

Audits usually focus on the experience of a particular group of users — for example older adults, children, or women. Participants take part in a research walk, during which they observe and evaluate streets, neighbourhoods, or public spaces.

Their insights form the core of the analysis and may be complemented with structured observation and existing data.

Audits can be conducted with trained auditors working with the foundation or with local residents themselves. Combining both perspectives often provides the most valuable results.

We conduct spatial audits for city authorities, cultural institutions, and private investors interested in improving existing public spaces or developing new ones.
