PRECISE focused on developing and testing solutions that help prevent falls among older adults.

Falls are one of the most serious health risks in later life. Globally, they cause hundreds of thousands of deaths each year and significantly impact independence, wellbeing, and healthcare systems. Yet many falls go unreported, and effective prevention remains a challenge.

The challenge

Around one in three people over 65 experiences a fall each year. A first fall significantly increases the risk of subsequent ones, often leading to loss of confidence, reduced mobility, and social isolation.

Preventive approaches require personalised support and tools that are accessible and easy to integrate into everyday life.

Our approach

Within an international partnership, we explored how digital tools and rehabilitation methods can support fall prevention.

The project introduced and tested the DigiRehab application, which provides older adults with personalised exercise programmes designed to improve strength, balance, and overall physical condition.

The system generates a 12-week tailored training plan based on an assessment of a user’s physical and mental condition.

Our work focused on evaluating how such a solution could function in the Polish context — including usability, accessibility, and implementation models.

Result & impact

The project helped assess the potential of digital rehabilitation tools to support fall prevention and independent living among older adults.

Insights from the project contribute to the development of more accessible health-support solutions and inform future implementations in Poland.

International collaboration

The initiative was carried out with partners from several European countries including Italy, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands, combining expertise in health innovation and ageing.
